In addition to archival research and reading relevant works, contemporary witness interviews are among the tools historian Jörg Später uses on his journey in the footsteps of Adorno's students. One particularly important contemporary witness is Detlev Claussen (*1948). The emeritus professor of social theory, cultural and scientific sociology once studied under Max Horkheimer and Oskar Negt and also with Adorno himself and also experienced the occupation of the Institute for Social Research in Frankfurt, shortly before Adorno's death, in the front row. In this conversation, the contemporary witness reports on what happened to the Frankfurt School after Adorno's death.
