As an architect specialising in archaeological restoration, Laura Pecchioli not only spends time in the field, but also in the city archives, where she looks for documents and excavation photos that allow conclusions to be drawn about a possible earthquake. The maps and floor plans of the ancient city also afford important insights: Did possible earthquakes affect how the city developed? Were they even the reason for the city’s demise? And what information can be gleaned from the excavations conducted in the early 20th century?
