The restoration team led by conservators Christina Verbeek and Susanne Brinkmann has been working for many years to restore the impressive wall paintings in the Neferhotep burial chamber in Luxor, Egypt. The team is using a new laser technology that makes it possible to remove the soot that was deposited on the walls during the burning of mummies in neighbouring burial chambers. And yet the restoration work is painstaking manual labour, as no two paintings or materials are the same.
