In his research, Dr. Nicolaus Seefeld is dealing with one particular archaeological find: human remains, which were unearthed in the mass grave in Uxul. In order to be able to draw conclusions about Mayan culture, the finds have to be thoroughly examined, catalogued and identified. Are these men or women? How many individuals were buried in the mass grave? What statements can be made about how the individuals died? Finding answers to these questions is helped primarily by collaboration with other disciplines such as anthropology.
