Apart from creating modern storage facilities, the project also aims to record and catalogue the objects in a computer system. Bernard Beitz, a computer scientist and mathematician, is developing suitable software for this purpose. He also needs to consider the program’s special requirements: After all, many of the objects must be described in detail. This digital documentation is not just a means to an end, but will ensure stolen items can be easily identified. Moreover, it is a pilot project for the other archaeological museums in Jordan.
