Dr. Nicolaus Seefeld from the University of Bonn intensively researches Mayan culture – one of the most important advanced pre-Colombian civilizations in America. In the Mayan city of Calakmul the archaeologist is getting to the bottom of the Mayan’s water supply, as their fascinating water management structures are still preserved today. He is convinced that every stratum of society was involved in maintaining the water supply and storing rainwater. After all, without this knowledge, the culture would not have survived for over 2,000 years.
