This video addresses that the roots of current sustainabilty of the Iberian Peninsula can be found in the forestry administration and management implemented by the Iberian Empires to ensure easily accessible timber for shipbuilding during the Early Modern Age.In line with the research goals of the European Union of making the research as public and open as possible, this 3D animated video aims to reach out to larger audience while maintaining the quality of the basic research. This video has been funded by the Gerda Henkel Foundation within the framework of the project "Protection, production and environmental change: the roots of Modern Environmentalism in the Iberian Peninsula (XVI-XVIIIth enturies)", and it counts with the support of the research project "Las raíces materiales e inmateriales del conservacionismo ambiental de la Península Ibérica (siglos XV-XIX)" (SUSTINERE) funded by the Autonomous Region of Madrid with the King Juan Carlos University.
