The ongoing corona pandemic has also affected the research project in Oman: The team around archaeologist Dr. Stephanie Döpper had to leave the country unexpectedly and at short notice in March. Since then, only a digital exchange is left - which, however, does not replace the work on site, because archaeological data and impressions on site remain important. However, the pandemic also holds an opportunity: The cultural sociological part of the project has been expanded to include a look at other abandoned sites. In this way, a comparison will be drawn to show what is specific about Oman and its mud-brick settlements.
