Artist signatures have fascinated Alessandro della Latta for many years; he began to study them as early as 1999. Yet his main interest revolves around the interdisciplinary and multicultural aspects and the power of these signatures: How does the inscription reveal the artist’s identity? How much influence do specific names have? To what extent does the signature represent a seal of quality, and what is its connection with possible forgeries? How did artists from non-European cultures sign their works? The art historian answers these and many other questions in our general interview.
