Although Belgian economic history, in which Friedrich Romberg is also mentioned, has been studied for some time, a biographical study of the entrepreneur and slave trader has been lacking. PD Dr. Magnus Ressel's research focuses on this fascinating entrepreneur, who is representative of numerous phenomena of the time. A major challenge is posed by the extensive sources available: Above all, his business career is extensively documented by the company estate as well as correspondence. At the end of the video series, Magnus Ressel explains in a general interview which further challenges arose in the course of his research and which aspects particularly fascinated the historian.
