We are pleased to announce the Third International Conference of ‘What if?…’ World History (WhatIf’23). From 22 to 24 November 2023, this conference presents itself as a forum per excellence to researchers and aficionados of Alternate and Alternative History to exchange ideas and research results of the field, whether as academic subject, or artistic/literary creation.

Call for Abstracts
To register and submit, please follow these instructions (https://whatif.fc.up.pt/index.php/call-for-abstracts/) until 22 September: In order to submit the paper for the special issue of Hypothesis Historia Periodical, you must submit an abstract for oral presentation and, if accepted, present it virtually at the 3rd International Conference of ‘What if?…’ World History. If you intend just to submit an abstract for virtual oral presentation, the registration at the submission form will suffice. The template for the abstract proposal is available in Microsoft Word format. All oral presentations will be virtual, with online attendance.
Submissions imply the willingness of at least one author to register, attend the conference, and present the paper.
After completing your paper proposal and abstract, in English, submit according to the following guidelines:
- Annex the abstract proposal to an email addressed to whatif.2023@fc.up.pt.
- Write on the email subject: WhatIf’23 Abstract Submission (First Author’s name)
You will be notified of the reception of your email by the organizing committee.
No registration fees. The participation in event is free.

They should also include Dr. Bastian Vergnon in cc.
