Prof. Dieter Vieweger is a theologian and archaeologist – after all, in the Holy Land these two aspects are closely connected. For the academic it is clear: The Bible was written by people for their contemporaries. And archaeology can help in interpreting some passages, as it makes statements about the conditions of the time and consequently allows conclusions to be drawn about the meaning of these sections. However, in addition to interpreting new finds, Prof. Vieweger studies older archaeological treasures in the Archaeological Museum. He aims to improve the cataloguing of previous finds in the database as well as the storage conditions – in the hope of facilitating further research work.
