This pandemic has developed into a global crisis and is affecting all parts of your social, cultural, political and economic life in ways we would have never thought possible. In our digital lecture series “De Gruyter Corona Talks: Thinking in a State of Exception” we are going to speak with scholars from various disciplines about the different intellectual approaches to take when trying to understand the effects of this global pandemic.
The next talk will be with Tue Emil Öhler Søvsø from the Freie Universität Berlin talking with De Gruyter editor Rabea Rittgerodt about “A Crisis of Value. Stoic Responses to the Pandemic”. Tue Emil Öhler Søvsø works on Cicero and Stoic Philosophy as a doctoral student at the research training group “Philosophy, Science and the Sciences” in Berlin. He will talk about the ancient Greek and Roman Stoics offering an intriguing perspective on the challenging questions facing us and our societies due to the corona pandemic.
