This time, our search for examples of late Medieval piety takes us further afield, from Thuringia to Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. To this day, many of the churches there still contain votive offerings, which believers gave by way of expressing gratitude for miracles performed. Today, these symbolic sacrifices offered up by people who had been healed or saved in times of need are often misinterpreted.
