In the library of the Romano-Germanic Central Museum in Mainz, Bulgarian scholars investigate the environment of the Preslav Treasure from an art-historical and cultural-historical perspective. What role did the Preslav Treasure play for the aspiring Bulgarian Empire? Was the jewellery the dowry of a Byzantine princess? Or was it a gift to the Byzantine princess who visited Constantinople in 940 as Bulgarian empress? These are some of the questions to be answered during the study of the Preslav Treasure.
